This year’s event which drew participants from as far as Ondangwa has shown tremendous growth over the years and is fast becoming an event with note on the local and international sporting calendar.

The Husab marathon is held each year under the auspices of the Swakop Uranium Foundation and falls under the foundation’s pillar of Health and Well-being, the event was first held in 2015 with the purpose to integrate the employees of Swakop Uranium and their families into the Namibian communities and more importantly promote health and wellness amongst Namibians.  Speaking at the event’s prize giving ceremony, the governor of the Erongo region, Hon Cleophas Mutjavikua, commended Swakop Uranium for sponsoring the marathon for the last four years as it ensures the health and wellbeing of Namibians.  Many families came out to enjoy a day of fun and fitness near the beautiful Namib Naukluft park an impressive 607 people all crossed the finish line in the different race categories which signals that Namibians are taking their health and wellness seriously.

The event has also become a place for SU families to have their quality time and a platform to rekindle with our friends.  THEY CALL IT HUSAB, WE CALL IT FAMILY.
