SU Re-affirms its commitment to the National Agenda

On 06th of May 2019, President Hage Geingob declared the current drought affecting all regions of Namibia a National disaster.  Namibia has, since the year 2013, experienced below normal rainfall of which the repercussions are exhausted grazing land and with little recovery.

Swakop Uranium, as an act of patriotism, has over the years supported the Drought Relief programs of the government and has this year again made a monetary donation of N$250,000.00 to be channeled towards the relief programs in the various regions of Namibia.

Mr. Cai Yusheng (CEO) and Angula Kalili (COO) handed over the cheque to Dr. Saara-Kuugongelwa-Amadhila, the Prime Minister of Namibia, who heartily received the donation and praised the Company for its contributions and commitments – stating that there has always been a great expectation for capacity building from Swakop Uranium, given its size, and said that it’s very encouraging to see that the Company is living up to the expectations of the people of Namibia.

Mr. Cai Yusheng, updated the Prime Minister on the latest developments on the Husab Mine, in terms of employment statistics, Corporate Social Responsibility, skills transfers initiatives and succession plans for various roles within the Company, and highlighted that the Company will continue to support initiatives aimed at the betterment of the people of Namibia.
