SU sheds some Christmas cheer to the DRC Community in Swakopmund

In December 2019, SU visited the DRC Community in Swakopmund where we identified families that didn’t have basic necessities during the festive season. As part of our CSR initiative, we decided to donate food hampers to those in need so they, too could have something to celebrate Christmas with.

The response of the community was heart-warming and overwhelming and we committed to this project on an annual basis.

SU was motivated to continue with this project in the year 2020 even though it has been a difficult year for all and many businesses were hit hard due to the invisible enemy COVID-19.

Swakop Uranium gave relieve to 42 families by blessing them with a food hamper that contained basic household necessities for the festive season. Madam Santa also made a special appearance to hand out candy to the kids and bring some joy to them.

This gesture was deeply welcomed and appreciated by the community. SU was able to bring smiles to many faces.

We encouraged the community of DRC to continue adherence to the COVID-19 regulations and keep safe during the festive season.

As a community we need to stick together not only against the enemy COVID-19 but also stand united with the community and lend a helping hand where we can. After all we are “More Than Mining”. Together we can succeed.

We would like to wish the DRC community and the rest of Namibia a Merry Christmas and a safe festive season.
