Our Commitment

An SU Family Initiative

Swakop Uranium employees recently joined in the company’s efforts and participated in a week-long challenge dubbed ‘Fill-up the Pink Bin’ where the departments challenged one another to see which team collects the most packs of pads.  The goal of this challenge is to collect as many pads as possible to empower young girls from less fortunate backgrounds, especially poor schoolgirls.

Without access to clean sanitary supplies, girls are vulnerable to disease, emotional problems and poor school performance. Research indicates that underprivileged girls can miss school for up to four days each month over menstruation. With the provision of sanitary products, these girls will be able to better manage their health and go back to school as confident young women.

The Swakop Uranium Foundation is proud of the effort.  No matter the size of your contribution, it will make a big difference for the young girl that will receive your pack. This challenge is a continuum of the Sanitary Pad drive in July this year which distributed 1200 packs of pads to underprivileged girls in Swakopmund.

We are particularly proud of the warm display of care and involvement shown by SU men, who came out in numbers to support our girls, as it confirms that men are ready to join the conversation on the challenges faced by women in society.

The SU Foundation will distribute the pads collected before the Christmas Holiday.
