Source: 2022-01-05

On the 21st of December 2021, Swakop Uranium donated 20 Oxygen Concentrators to the Ministry of Health and Social Services. The handover ceremony was held at the Husab Towers, in attendance was the Erongo Regional Director Ms. Anna Jonas and the CEO of Swakop Uranium, Mr. Qiu Bin.

The COVID-19 pandemic has placed unprecedented pressure on global supply chains and the sourcing of vital medical supplies, including oxygen concentrators.

With the rapid rise in the number of COVID-19 cases at the onset of the 4th wave in Namibia, the demand for essential medical supplies continues to increase considerably. It is a known fact that the COVID-19 infection is characterized by respiratory difficulties including low levels of oxygen in the bloodstream. The need for oxygen support devices like oxygen concentrators therefore increased significantly to treat patients effectively. These oxygen concentrators will benefit the critically ill COVID-19 patients with increased lung infection.

Swakop Uranium has consistently been instrumental in the fight against COVID-19 and in assisting both the community and the Ministry of Health and Social Services. Swakop Uranium has made several donations from the onset of the pandemic and will continue to provide necessary support towards the fight against the pandemic.

Swakop Uranium wishes everyone a safe and joyous Festive Season. We implore all Namibians and our visitors to do your part by wearing your mask, sanitizing, keeping your distance and most importantly by getting vaccinated.
