COMPLIANCE WITH AFFIRMATIVE ACTION (EMPLOYMENT) ACT, 1998

 

Swakop Uranium remains committed to the implementation of the Affirmative Action National Policy. To assist with the implementation of the requirements, the Affirmative Action Consultative Committee has been established and its activities are governed by the AA Charter. The committee meets quarterly to discuss matters pertaining to AA. The Vice President Human Resources reports to the Chief Executive Officer on the progress of the implementation of the Annual Plan and the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) is the overall accountable person of Affirmative Action.

 

Swakop Uranium has made significant strides in its attempt to have a workforce that is representative of the Namibian demographics. The Company’s Namibianisation workforce ratio stands at 96%. 2.4% of the workforce are Shareholder secondees and 1.8% are Expatriates.  92% of the workforce are from the Previously Disadvantaged group. Women represents 11% of the total workforce. The Company has further committed itself to employing women at all levels and persons with disabilities.

 

The Company and its management are in full support of the Government’s strategy as stated in terms of the Affirmative Action Act. The Company will continue to drive its Affirmative Action policy in tandem with the Namibianisation Plans.
